[Yiliang’s Diary – Entry 4]
Wei Yanzi — that name has way too many character strokes (NT: 卫言梓). Might as well just call him “rival” (NT: 對家).
I’m the only one who knows he’s not really my rival. Calling him that carries a completely different meaning for me than it does for others, and I find that quite amusing.
[Yiliang’s Diary – Entry 5]
It’s strange. The day before yesterday, my rival and I barely had any interaction.
Yesterday, when we met, he seemed a little shy.
But today, he literally pulled on my cheeks to make me smile.
It’s quite amusing — I even took a photo to remember the moment.
[Yiliang’s Diary – Entry 6]
For promotional purposes, the production team opened the set for 30 minutes of fan visits.
My rival’s fans came too. It was a great chance to break the ice (not that it was even needed).
I invited him to come with me, and I deliberately asked him to share some of his snacks with me in front of everyone, hoping the fans would pick up on my intent.
He had a whole stash of snacks hidden in his dressing room — how does he never gain weight?
One of my fans — I mean, one of my top fans — suggested taking a photo of the two of us together, and he cooperated very well.
She’s got great photography skills; honestly, it looks like she’s professionally trained — the composition and lighting were perfect.
I was very satisfied and picked two photos to post on Weibo.
I noticed my “rival” also seemed pleased with the photos, which made me even more pleased.
One of his fans asked him to sign a poster that included me, and he looked a bit awkward about it.
He even asked for my permission — maybe afraid I’d mind being involved. That was just… way too cute.
The poster was nicely drawn, depicting us in a close and friendly relationship, with pleasant colouring. I really liked it — it’s a shame I couldn’t ask for the original image.
I have quite a few fans who draw me in chibi style, but this was the first time I saw a fanart of both of us together.
I wonder if the artist is a shared fan, or someone from his fanbase — maybe expressing a wish for us to peacefully coexist.
It’s really nice. I hope to see more art like this.
[Yiliang’s Diary – Entry 8]
(NT: Entry 7 is missing in the original text.)
During filming, my rival kept watching me nervously. His gaze was so intense it was impossible to ignore — especially during the dangerous scenes.
He stood the entire time I was filming, never complaining, as if he wasn’t tired at all.
But I’ve done countless shoots like this before — why worry so much? Haha ^^
Being watched by him put this indescribable pressure on me. I really wanted to nail the scenes in one take — and surprisingly, I did.
I hope he watches me film more often — though next time, maybe he could sit down.
As heartwarming as it was to be watched like that, I didn’t want him to worry too much. So over dinner, I casually told him how safe the set actually was.
He still seemed doubtful.
I wonder who it was that twisted their ankle filming a movie before.
Speaking of which… he’s seen that video, which made me a little embarrassed.
But then I realized — he didn’t understand the real meaning of that fan-made clip. What a mess.
Well, by now, I guess he probably understands what the video was trying to say. Haha.
I asked him how he saw that video, and he blushed, stayed silent for a moment, then finally admitted one of my fans had sent it to him.
Seriously… But at least he told the truth — and he even asked for my autograph.
I don’t know why, but that made me really happy.
I signed his phone case, and it actually looked really good.
I asked for his autograph in return, and when we put our phones side by side, they matched so well.
[Yiliang’s Diary – Entry 9]
Wang Huanxu was buzzing on again with the same old stories.
I am used to it — didn’t react much, maybe even found it a bit amusing — but the moment she said she was going to show that file to my rival, I suddenly got worried.
What if he believed the nonsense in there?
Especially that one particular story.
But then, without hesitation, my rival chose to believe me.
He even got mad on my behalf.
He defended me.
It’s really strange — no matter what state I’m in, even with Wang Huanxu right in front of me, as long as my rival is there, everything changes.
The way he calmly, logically refuted Wang Huanxu really touched me.
It’s strange — in a good way. It felt like little bubbles rising in my heart.
It’s hard to describe — you have to feel it to understand.
He’s always been pretty gentle with me, so I didn’t expect him to show such a commanding side when standing up for me, resolving the whole thing at once.
He’s bad at playing every role — except when it comes to acting like a domineering tyrant. In that, he’s perfect. It’s so adorable.
After Wang Huanxu left, I didn’t say much.
But he seemed more worried about me than I was about myself.
His smile looked a bit forced.
He’s like the living definition of the word ‘adorable’.
For the first time ever, Wang Huanxu didn’t ruin my mood —
Though I was still annoyed that she kept glancing at my rival.
[Yiliang’s Diary – Entry 10]
Ah, my rival’s assistant — Xiao Chen? That seems to be his name…
My rival watched me for a long time during filming, and in the end, I wanted to go to him right after, but there were too many people around me and I couldn’t get away.
He must’ve been standing too long — he looked like he was trembling when he walked, and Xiao Chen helped him away.
It should’ve been me helping him walk, since he stood there the whole time watching over me.
At a dinner we organized, the atmosphere between them was a little strange — very relaxed and cheerful — but I couldn’t get into it.
It annoyed me a bit, but then my rival left Xiao Chen behind. And just like that, I wasn’t angry anymore.
…Now that I’m writing it down, I wonder if I’m not a little weird.
Whatever. I’ll keep writing.
Wang Huanxu caused trouble again, but Xiao Chen went to get security and had her escorted out. I really want to thank him — otherwise, I don’t know how long she would’ve kept bothering me.
But… my rival was holding my wrist, and before leaving, Xiao Chen said something to him.
Then my rival let go of my hand and quickly walked ahead of me.
Maybe he told him to be careful about his image.
But I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to make trouble for anyone.
My rival complimented him, saying, “He’s not just interesting.”
Xiao Chen often calls him “Yanyan.”
If I’d known, I would’ve avoided commenting on the way “Wei Ge” sounded yesterday.
I should’ve just called him “Wei ge.” properly.
[Yiliang’s Diary – Short Notes About My Rival]
My rival is truly funny — I can’t imitate his style. Every time I try, it’s awkward.
He’s really naïve — no awareness of safety at all.
He wants to drink stuff sent by fans without even checking it first.
Ah, I really should take better care of him.
He even wants to learn how to smoke. I seriously don’t understand what’s going on in his head — he’s picking up all the wrong habits instead of the good ones.
I didn’t warn him and gave him a cigarette — he coughed so hard his eyes turned red…
Hmm. His eyes are really beautiful.
His memory is incredible — he could be on ‘The Brain’ talent show (TN: a Chinese show showcasing mental talents).
He remembers my lines, my preferences, my schedule — it’s like he keeps me in his heart.
But I don’t know him well enough.
Hmmm. That’s a little embarrassing.
I should learn more about him too.
[Yiliang’s Diary – Another Entry]
I read a short poem, and for some reason, it really moved me.
Here’s what I copied down:
"I can resist everything
Except temptation"
(Oscar Wilde)
I can resist all temptation —
Until they’re tempted by me.
