Golden assistant - Chapter 32: There was no turning back from the bow
The doctor pushed the stretcher into the operating room, while Xiao Yi sat outside, trembling, gasping for breath, almost on the verge of vomiting. Du Mei rushed into the corridor in high heels, followed by the producer. No one dared to speak.
"What's the situation?" Du Mei's voice trembled.
"Shoulder shattered bone fracture," Xiao Yi managed to calm down slightly, his voice trembling, "concussion... intracranial bleeding. They couldn't perform the surgery at Dongyang People's Hospital, so they transferred him here at noon today."
Du Mei burst into tears, with Li Ye comforting her. Several people took turns to hug her while Xiao Yi cried uncontrollably, clutching the amulets they brought from Thailand, silently praying, "Anything is fine, just don't let him die..."
"Family needs to sign." The doctor came out and said, "We need to operate immediately."
"No family members are present," Du Mei said, "His mother is abroad, I've already called her, but couldn't reach her."
"Xiao Yi," Li Ye proposed, "You sign for him."
The doctor looked at Xiao Yi with suspicion, and Xiao Yi took the pen and signed his own name in the family consent section: "Will he recover?"
The doctor didn't answer and went back inside.
The surgery lasted for eight hours, and outside the operating room, it was quiet. The coordinator whispered, "Let's go eat in batches."
Du Mei nodded and left with the producer. Li Ye sat beside Xiao Yi, comforting him by patting his shoulder, without saying anything. Xiao Yi uttered, "I'm sorry for causing so much trouble to everyone."
Li Ye hushed him, indicating there was no need to apologize anymore. Xiao Yi choked back tears, glanced at Li Changzheng, who was also crying, waved his hand to indicate it was okay.
"I'll call Zheng Xiaocong," Xiao Yi mentioned, "It's what Zhou asked on the ambulance before he lost consciousness."
Lu Zhou lay in the ambulance, holding Xiao Yi's hand, and said "Zheng" on the way to the hospital in Shanghai. Xiao Yi knew Zhou was worried and wanted someone to take care of him, also he knew that with this fall, he couldn't continue filming.
"He's got a few good friends, Du Mei has informed them. We don't know the situation yet, and we mustn't let more people know," Li Ye said.
Xiao Yi nodded, and Li Ye continued, "Keep it low-profile."
The door of the operating room opened, and nurses pushed Lu Zhou out on a hospital bed.
"ICU?" Xiao Yi asked, trembling.
"He's stable," the doctor said. "He's in a regular ward for observation. If he wakes up, it's fine."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. From the time of the accident in the morning until now, a continuous sixteen hours, the entire crew was covered in gloom. Lu Zhou was sent to the ward, fitted with an oxygen mask, surrounded by beeping equipment. Xiao Yi sat by his bed, staring blankly.
Lu Zhou looked extremely haggard after the surgery, pale, devoid of his usual charisma. There was glue residue on his forehead from the wig. Xiao Yi looked at him, unable to hold back his tears, then leaned over the bed, choked up silently, and looked at Lu Zhou's unconscious figure.
His only hope was for Lu Zhou to wake up soon and scold him.
Du Mei returned, came in to see him, patted Xiao Yi's shoulder, indicating he should calm down.
Xiao Yi heard Du Mei, the director, and the producer talking outside, and after a while, people from the film company and investors came. They discussed what to do next, until the doctor said, "Have the meeting outside! The patient needs rest!"
The voices outside stopped.
Xiao Yi lay by the bedside, holding Lu Zhou's hand, not knowing how long had passed. Li Changzheng brought him a plate of fried rice and sat down beside him, saying, "You should eat something."
Xiao Yi was also exhausted. He knew that at times like this, he had to eat something. Nurses came in to register, Du Mei also arranged for hospital staff to monitor Lu Zhou's condition. This was the best hospital in Shanghai, everyone had tried their best. Whether Lu Zhou could wake up or not, it was up to fate.
"I'm sorry," Li Changzheng said guiltily. "It should have been me who fell. At that time, the location wasn't suitable for two safety wires, and I didn't jump over. No one expected that part to collapse."
"This has already happened. We can only hope he wakes up," Xiao Yi remarked.
Li Changzheng was silent for a moment, then said, "Yes, you're right. He'll definitely be okay."
Xiao Yi ate half of the rice and noted, "This Yangzhou fried rice is delicious."
"Once he wakes up, let's go eat together," Li Changzheng proposed.
Xiao Yi nodded and said, "Okay."
Xiao Yi didn't cry anymore. It wouldn't help. Instead, his mouth felt dry. Lu Zhou would definitely recover. He was such a powerful person, almost like a superhero, capable and knowledgeable, and so strong.
He understood Li Changzheng's feelings. If the one who fell was Li Changzheng, then no matter how famous he was or how much money he had, with just one fall, it would all be gone.
Li Changzheng and Xiao Yi sat quietly in the ward. After a while, the producer came in and asked Li Changzheng to leave.
Xiao Yi was so exhausted he lay by Lu Zhou's side, holding his hand, and fell asleep.
*
"Xiao Yi," Li Ye's voice sounded beside him.
Xiao Yi raised his head. It was already dawn. Since the incident with Lu Zhou, he had been in a daze. A man in his thirties came in and asked, "How's the situation?"
Xiao Yi replied, "Once he wakes up, he'll be fine, Xiaocong."
The one who came in was Zheng Xiaocong, Lu Zhou's good friend. He nodded at Xiao Yi and then turned to Du Mei, asking, "Should I go sign the contract with the crew now?"
Du Mei said, "Xiaocong, go with the director. We'll have to reshoot all the previous scenes, and I'm worried your schedule might not match."
Zheng Xiaocong said to Xiao Yi, "Xiao Yi, give me a call when Lu Zhou wakes up."
Xiao Yi nodded quickly, knowing that the crew had found someone to take over the role. Finally, Lu Zhou's instructions had been conveyed, and he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Lin Yao also came in. Li Ye went out, closing the door behind her. After a while, Wu Henggu and his agent also entered. There were only a few of them left in the ward.
"That's it," Du Mei said. "Once Lu Zhou wakes up, no matter what, give us a call, Xiao Yi."
Xiao Yi replied, "Okay."
Lin Yao proposed, "I'll stay with him at the hospital."
Du Mei mentioned, "I've arranged for a nurse. We'll transfer him to another ward tonight. Lin Yao, you and Xiao Yi take turns to watch over him. Just make sure someone from our team is always with him."
Xiao Yi nodded, "Got it."
Du Mei said, "I'll go to the set for a while."
Xiao Yi stood up and told her, "Thank you for your hard work, Manager Du."
Du Mei didn't say anything, just nodded and left. After a while, the director, producer, and Li Changzheng came to say goodbye. Every day the shoot was delayed, the production incurred losses in the millions. They couldn't afford any more delays and had to find a way to keep things running smoothly. The entire crew had stayed up all night. Xiao Yi was a bit worried they might fall asleep on the way back, but a text came in at ten in the morning, saying they had arrived safely. Only then did Xiao Yi relax.
Lin Yao went to get food. The doctor came to record some data and then left. Xiao Yi didn't dare to ask too much and just lay by Lu Zhou's bedside.
*
The afternoon sunlight streamed in through the window. Xiao Yi buried his face in Lu Zhou's side, holding his large hand. Lu Zhou's fingers moved, and then he raised his hand to touch Xiao Yi's head.
Xiao Yi, "..."
Xiao Yi looked up at Lu Zhou, and tears uncontrollably flowed down his face.
"What time is it?" Lu Zhou's voice sounded muffled from behind the oxygen mask.
Before Xiao Yi could sit up, the nurse had already rushed out to call the doctor. The doctor hurried over to examine Lu Zhou, who was just staring at Xiao Yi, his eyebrows slightly raised.
"It's... morning... no, noon, it's twelve o'clock," Xiao Yi said.
"Did they find someone to replace me?" Lu Zhou asked weakly.
Xiao Yi replied, "Zheng Xiaocong came."
Lu Zhou nodded slightly. The doctor immediately said, "Don't move your head!"
Xiao Yi laughed through his tears, glanced at the doctor, and the doctor explained, "It's okay. Talk to him. Don't sleep now. You can rest later if you're tired at night."
Xiao Yi suddenly felt alive again.
Lu Zhou stared at Xiao Yi without moving. Xiao Yi felt both exhausted and happy. Thank goodness it was just a false alarm. He had almost thought of sacrificing himself.
"Say something," Lu Zhou said weakly. "You're usually quite talkative, aren't you?"
Xiao Yi, "..."
Lin Yao knocked on the door and came in, seeing that Lu Zhou was awake. Lu Zhou's head was fixed in place, and his neck was in a white brace, so he could only move his eyes.
"Hey, you're awake," Lin Yao smiled. "Knew you could hold on."
"My shoulder... hurts like hell," Lu Zhou mentioned.
Xiao Yi burst into laughter.
"Laugh," Lu Zhou said. "You finally get to take revenge, huh?"
Lu Zhou's voice was weak. Xiao Yi advised him, "Don't talk. I'll talk to you."
Lu Zhou said again, "Check Weibo."
Xiao Yi, "..."
Lu Zhou insisted, "Bring me Weibo."
Xiao Yi said, "I'll read it to you."
As Xiao Yi scrolled through Weibo, he saw various rumours spreading. He opened Lu Zhou's latest post, and the comments were flooded with fans expressing concern and hoping it was just a rumour.
Xiao Yi said, "Some people are asking if something happened on set, and others are telling them not to be so negative."
Lu Zhou said, "Be honest, I don't have the energy to scold you... Xiao Yi, if I can't hold back from scolding you, it might accelerate my death..."
Xiao Yi hurriedly explained, "The rumours only mention that you were injured, not how serious it is."
Lin Yao said, "Manager Du and Li Ye have already discussed the official statement. It'll be released today."
Lu Zhou asked, "Xiao Yi... could you call Director Du and ask her to hold off on the official statement, and clarify that I'm not injured."
Xiao Yi felt a bit at a loss. Lu Zhou weakly continued, "Don't let the fans worry. Just say that I... had some last-minute issues and had to postpone this drama... That should do it... The young girls don't know how to gauge things. If they hear I'm hospitalized, they'll worry endlessly."
Lin Yao proposed, "Let me talk to Manager Du about it."
Lu Zhou added, "Xiao Yi, do you have... any pictures of me on your phone?"
Xiao Yi replied, "Yes."
Lu Zhou said, "Send one out, to clear up the rumours. Do it now."
Xiao Yi glanced at Lin Yao, who didn't object. Lin Yao went out to the corridor to make a call, and Xiao Yi followed Lu Zhou's instructions, lowering his head to scroll through photos. He found one of Lu Zhou sitting in a hotel room playing on a PSP after work. He said, "Then... what should I write?"
Lu Zhou turned his palm over and placed it on Xiao Yi's hand, saying, "Anything."
Xiao Yi asked, "Can I just share the picture directly?"
Lu Zhou responded, "Don't be mad at me..."
Xiao Yi said, "I remember now! There's one!"
Xiao Yi found a photo of Lu Zhou and Li Changzheng together during break time, taken on a scorching noon, with both cooling off with a fan. He posted it on Lu Zhou's Weibo.
"I am the genius Lu Zhou: Am I not alive and well? Your idol is back in my hands."
Lu Zhou looked at it and nodded in satisfaction, making a sound of approval. He held onto Xiao Yi's hand, and Xiao Yi put down his phone, leaning on his legs to look at him.
"Am I ugly?" Lu Zhou glanced disdainfully downwards, looking at Xiao Yi.
Xiao Yi shook his head with a smile and said, "You're handsome. I love you."
"Um," Lu Zhou responded nonchalantly. After a while, he said, "Seeing you was the first thing I did after waking up. I should love you a bit too."
Xiao Yi burst into laughter. Lu Zhou shushed him, indicating he shouldn't be too loud. Then he looked at Xiao Yi with a smile in his eyes.
At that moment, Lu Zhou's gaze was very gentle. Sunlight streamed into the ward, casting a golden glow all around.
As Xiao Yi laughed, tears welled up in his eyes, both eyes turning red. He tried to hold his sobbing back.
"Are you even a man..." Lu Zhou complained weakly, "Crying like a little girl..."
Xiao Yi said, "I'm just sad... It's such a good drama, and you were taking it so seriously..."
Lu Zhou thought for a moment, his tone slightly softer, sounding wearier. He patted Xiao Yi's hand and said, "Don't be sad. There will be better dramas in the future."
Lin Yao came in after finishing his call, saying, "We're holding off on the official statement for now. Director Du is on her way."
Lu Zhou nodded and said, "She can come by tomorrow if she wants. Also, ask her to leave a message for my mom, saying it's nothing serious, just a twisted shoulder. She doesn't need to come."
When Du Mei rushed over, Xiao Yi was feeding Lu Zhou. She looked exhausted. She had received a call early in the morning, boarded a plane, arrived in Shanghai in the afternoon, went to Hengdian in the early morning, and was now back.
"Director Du, you should rest first," Xiao Yi hurriedly said.
"I slept on the plane," Du Mei informed him. "As long as he's awake, we can discuss everything."
Du Mei and Lu Zhou had a serious discussion. Lu Zhou couldn't muster up the energy to argue anymore. Xiao Yi thought it was the most relaxed company meeting he had ever seen with Lu Zhou present. It was almost like there should have been someone playing a violin nearby. Yet, Lu Zhou insisted on not making any compromises. They finally reached an agreement after a very slow and gentle debate, which Xiao Yi found to be the most boring meeting he had ever attended. He couldn't believe he had spent two hours listening to their conversation with genuine curiosity.
Afterwards, Du Mei left. The conclusion they reached was to disclose that Lu Zhou's old shoulder injury recurred during filming, and he had to temporarily withdraw. However, considering the current situation, Zheng Xiaocong might not necessarily agree. If not, they would have to promote Wu Henggu to play the role of Sleek Rat Bai Yutang.
Lu Zhou felt relieved, "After so many years of filming, this is my first paid vacation."
Xiao Yi spent the night in Lu Zhou's upscale hospital room again, setting up another bed. Even though there were nurses, Xiao Yi couldn't help but worry. In Lu Zhou's words, he was just like an old mother hen. The doctor said Lu Zhou hadn't fully recovered yet, so he needed to be watched closely. If he experienced headaches, nausea, or vomiting, they had to call the doctor immediately.
Xiao Yi began to carefully attend to Lu Zhou's needs and started assisting with his personal care. Lu Zhou didn't like unfamiliar people touching his body, so Xiao Yi learned how to take care of him from the nurses. Often, late at night while lying in bed, Xiao Yi would turn over and glance at Lu Zhou's profile.
Whatever happened on the set was no longer of much concern to them. To avoid affecting Lu Zhou's mood and triggering his sensitivity, Xiao Yi refrained from using his phone unless necessary, only using it to answer calls and send/receive messages.
Lu Zhou had four steel nails implanted in his shoulder, and the concussion didn't cause much trouble. Xiao Yi consulted the doctor specifically about whether Lu Zhou could still continue filming. The doctor said it depended on his recovery progress, but Xiao Yi didn't dare to mention it to Lu Zhou.
After a while, Lu Zhou's head could finally move freely. Xiao Yi attended to him every day by the bedside. Lu Zhou asked, "When can I leave the hospital?"
Xiao Yi replied, "Your left shoulder still needs to be observed for a while longer."
Lu Zhou insisted, "It's already fine."
Xiao Yi persisted, "No, the doctor reminded us about it today."
During breaks, the crew would organize visits. Zheng Xiaocong's schedule couldn't be adjusted, so he couldn't play Sleek Rat Bai Yutang. Wu Henggu replaced him. Lu Zhou couldn't film due to his injury. Xiao Yi's contract was still valid, so he had to take a pen and paper and start brainstorming melodies.
Days later, he checked Tianya and Weibo and instantly felt a deep sense of fear.
The incident not only failed to be contained but also escalated dramatically with various parties adding fuel to the fire. Almost irreparable damage was done. Lu Zhou's fans, along with bystanders, started analysing the suspicious aspects of the incident. Everyone knew Lu Zhou was seriously injured and might not be able to film anymore.
Many people even speculated about conspiracy theories, thinking Li Changzheng had framed Lu Zhou. However, Xiao Yi doubted it. Lu Zhou and Li Changzheng had no grievances. Why would Li Changzheng want to harm him?
...Wait, there might have been some grievances between Li Changzheng and Lu Zhou after all.
Xiao Yi himself was part of the trouble, but he felt Li Changzheng wouldn't be so unscrupulous as to intentionally harm Lu Zhou during filming. Even if Lu Zhou died, Li Changzheng wouldn't get any benefit. His company already had a figure, and if Lu Zhou stepped down, Du Mei's side would find a replacement. What would Li Changzheng gain from it?
Li Changzheng consistently maintained a polite demeanour towards them. Xiao Yi found it somewhat difficult to bear; if indeed Li Changzheng wasn't responsible, then it was too heavy a burden for him to shoulder this accusation.
Li Changzheng had become the target of public criticism, unable to defend himself. He didn't even attempt to justify his actions. He continued to post regular updates about filming on Weibo. Fans even went to his Weibo, threatening to fight him if anything happened to Lu Zhou.
Xiao Yi wondered if Li Changzheng's recent absence was related to this situation.
"What's up?" Lu Zhou asked.
"Li Changzheng isn't coming anymore," Xiao Yi remarked.
"It's better if he doesn't." Lu Zhou said, "I told him not to come. Just focus on filming. What's the point of coming here to mourn with me?"
Xiao Yi understood. At this point, if Li Changzheng appeared, it would seem like sympathy towards Lu Zhou. Lu Zhou didn't need anyone's sympathy. Not visiting was a sign of respect.
"When can I leave the hospital?!" Lu Zhou finally became impatient.
"Be patient," Xiao Yi urged him, "You can't leave now."
"You pack up, and we're leaving this afternoon. Get the discharge procedures done," Lu Zhou demanded.
Xiao Yi replied, "The doctor said you can't leave. You can't go anywhere."
"You..." Lu Zhou glared at Xiao Yi. "Have you forgotten who your boss is?"
Xiao Yi never feared being scolded. He didn't fear it before, and he definitely didn't fear it now. He said, "Can I take you for a walk?"
Lu Zhou felt suffocated in the hospital, but Xiao Yi knew another reason he wanted to go back — he didn't want visitors. Although visitors brought many good things, Lu Zhou didn't want to lie in bed or sit in the hospital room chatting with the crew who came to visit. He found it insulting and preferred to return to Beijing as soon as possible.
But even if he returned to Beijing, he needed follow-up examinations. Moreover, Xiao Yi didn't know if Lu Zhou's concussion would have any lasting effects.
At the fifth shooting session, neither Du Mei nor Lin Yao came. Everyone was busy on set as the drama was nearing completion. Only Xiao Yi stood in the hospital room, listening to the doctor's report on Lu Zhou's condition.
The doctor was a bit surprised. "Where's your boss? Didn't he come?"
"No, he didn't," Xiao Yi said. "Please go on."
The doctor had a favourable impression of Xiao Yi. Seeing him work tirelessly and sometimes even getting scolded by Lu Zhou, the doctor sometimes felt sorry for him.
"His brain may have suffered some damage in this area," the doctor said. "It might affect his memory."
"How significant is the impact?" Xiao Yi asked.
"Has he shown signs of forgetting things?" the doctor asked.
Xiao Yi shook his head, and the doctor said, "I can't say for sure. It might not affect him at all, or it might manifest in minor, insignificant things."
Xiao Yi nodded and inquired, "Do we need to continue monitoring?"
The doctor said, "Let's observe for a while longer. You also need to arrange regular check-ups at the hospital in Beijing, right?"
*
Summer was coming to an end, and Lu Zhou had been in the hospital for almost three months. His shoulder was almost healed, although sometimes he couldn't lift it, it was mostly normal. Xiao Yi asked the doctor and knew it was within the normal range.
"When are we going back to Beijing?" Lu Zhou asked again.
Xiao Yi said, "The doctor said we still need to stay for a while."
Lu Zhou couldn't bear it anymore. "Give me a timeline!"
Xiao Yi said, "He can't be sure either. Maybe one or two more months."
"This is a mental hospital, isn't it? Are you planning to sell me to a mental hospital and then embezzle my property together?" Lu Zhou couldn't help but joke.
Xiao Yi laughed, and Lu Zhou looked at him suspiciously. "What's on your mind?"
Xiao Yi assured him, "Nothing, really hahaha..."
"You're laughing too fake," Lu Zhou noted.
Xiao Yi could only stop making any sound, and Lu Zhou asked, "Give me your phone."
Xiao Yi handed his phone to Lu Zhou. Lu Zhou didn't say a word all afternoon, lying in bed browsing forums, while Xiao Yi ate the fruits brought by visitors. They were delicious. He had never enjoyed such good fruits before... all imported, and so sweet...
" Zhou ge," Xiao Yi said.
"Help me wipe off that yellow face of yours," Lu Zhou said impatiently.
Xiao Yi found a tissue, wrapped the mango traces, went out to wash his face, and came back asking, "Is it like this?"
Lu Zhou said, "?"
Xiao Yi said, "It's what they're saying on the forums. Do you believe it?"
Lu Zhou: "I said I believe you. Are you going to go kill Li Changzheng for me now?"
Xiao Yi: "Hmm."
Lu Zhou: "Go ahead, I trust you."
Xiao Yi went out, and Lu Zhou roared from behind, "You're actually going! Come back here!"
Xiao Yi took the mango peel outside and threw it away. He didn't speak all day, seriously browsing online gossip. Lu Zhou glanced at the iPad a few times before sighing and putting it aside.
"It couldn't have been Li Changzheng," Lu Zhou suddenly said while strolling in the garden at night.
“Why?” Xiao Yi, although knowing that Lu Zhou must have already figured things out, couldn't help but ask.
"Because of love," Lu Zhou said indifferently.
" Because of love.... How can there be turbulence, we were still young..." Xiao Yi couldn't help but sing.
"Are you a jukebox?" Lu Zhou said with a wry smile.
"Did he ever like you?" Xiao Yi asked.
Xiao Yi didn't feel nervous when he asked this question. Li Changzheng couldn't possibly be his love rival because he never expected anything from Lu Zhou. He never intended to confess his feelings to him. As long as Lu Zhou was well and he could be by his side, it didn't matter.
"Yeah," Lu Zhou said seriously. "But don't go around telling people about it."
Xiao Yi nodded hastily, and Lu Zhou continued, "When we were still in school, we auditioned together."
Xiao Yi said, "Why didn't you end up together? I... I mean, it's not a big deal, don't mind me, Zhou Ge, I didn't mean it..."
In the quiet garden, distant lights shone.
Lu Zhou stood by the pool and said, "He probably thought I wasn't his type. So he distanced himself from me quickly. At first, I didn't realize it and thought of him as a good buddy. Not many people treated me well before. You know, everyone in the film academy is wealthy. If you're poor, others look down on you. Even if you're handsome, they won't pay attention to you. Li Changzheng and I were both broke. It was tough at the beginning, so we became friends with each other."
Xiao Yi swatted mosquitoes beside Lu Zhou, getting a big bite on his neck. Lu Zhou concluded, "So, I believe he wouldn't intentionally harm me."
Xiao Yi's curiosity was piqued. "Is Li Changzheng a zero?" (NT: a shou)
"Uh-huh," Lu Zhou said. "But he likes refined, well-tempered men, like our professors."
That night, Xiao Yi lay in bed while Lu Zhou stared into space. They had been in the hospital for almost three months. The drama was about to wrap up, and Lu Zhou insisted on returning to Beijing before then to avoid inconveniencing the whole crew.
During Lu Zhou's hospitalization, Du Mei and Lin Yao visited a few times, advising him to rest well since the drama couldn't proceed anyway. To ensure Lu Zhou's rest, the crew didn't inform the public which hospital he was in. After Li Changzheng visited once, he didn't show up again to avoid suspicion.
Xiao Yi had some reservations about Li Changzheng's behaviour. After all, Lu Zhou got injured while trying to save him. Whether Lu Zhou was actively trying to save him or not, and whether Li Changzheng was willing to accept his affection, Xiao Yi would feel uneasy if someone saved him. He would call every day to check or at least clarify things on social media.
But Li Changzheng didn't say anything, just continued filming. He called three times, first to ask if they needed anything, second to thank Lu Zhou for saving his life, and third to invite him to visit after the drama wrapped up.
Lu Zhou didn't show any discomfort. He just told Li Changzheng not to be polite, as regardless of who was hanging from the eaves, he would lend a hand.
Xiao Yi wondered, if someone else had gotten injured protecting Lu Zhou, Lu Zhou might have stopped filming and stayed by their bedside every day, or at least sent him out to listen to orders and run errands outside the ward.
"Don't mention it anymore," Lu Zhou asked. "Owing favours is hardest on the one who owes them. As long as he knows it, it's fine. I see that fans want to crucify him."
Xiao Yi hmmed. At night, they both lay in bed. Lu Zhou switched channels a few times and watched a DVD. It was the first movie he made when he debuted. He was very young back then. At that time, Xiao Yi had just started university and went to see Lu Zhou's first movie with his girlfriend.
Very, very young, like a rookie. He played the lead role as soon as he entered the industry. This movie was instrumental in his success. It was about the story of Fang La attacking Liangshan. (NT Fang La was a Chinese rebel leader during the Song dynasty, Liangshan is a Chinese county)
"Once the bow is drawn, the arrow cannot turn back." In the vast Liangshan, heroes died, heroes dispersed. Lu Zhou played Zhang Shun, a character that shone brilliantly and stole the spotlight.
"Your physique is amazing," Xiao Yi looked at Lu Zhou in ancient costume, hearts popping out of his eyes, drooling.
Lu Zhou: "..."
Lu Zhou turned off the movie halfway through.
"Hey!" Xiao Yi wanted to continue watching, but Lu Zhou wouldn't let him.
"Why aren't you watching anymore?" Xiao Yi asked.
"I don't want to watch anymore. I want to sleep," Lu Zhou said.
Lu Zhou lay on the bed, his back to Xiao Yi. Xiao Yi had to turn off the lights, put on his headphones, pull up his phone, and continue watching online videos. In one scene, Lu Zhou, as Zhang Shun, had both fight scenes and nude scenes. In one scene, Zhang Shun exchanged intelligence from within the reed swamp and stood by the river, fully naked. With the reeds all around, the heavens and earth seemed one, Lu Zhou bathed by the river, singing freely as the beautiful Sun Erniang rowed the boat over, unafraid of the distinction between male and female.
That scene instantly made him a heartthrob, capturing the hearts of millions of young men and women. Xiao Yi rewatched it, feeling a rush of excitement.
The naked male body, the desolate reed swamp, the vast sky and earth, combined with Sun Erniang's melodious voice and Zhang Shun's wild and rough masculine voice, exuded a primitive sense of power and beauty, majestic and inspiring.
And Xiao Yi got hard while watching it.
" Zhou Ge," Xiao Yi took off one earbud, knowing Lu Zhou was still awake, "what was your major in sports school?"
Xiao Yi had heard Lu Zhou mention that his mother didn't allow him to major in acting, so he had to go to a sports school for two years, then quit to study again. Finally, he managed to get into the acting department.
"Swimming," Lu Zhou turned over, facing the ceiling, sighing as he stared at it.
"No wonder you have such a good physique," Xiao Yi played the scene with Lu Zhou's naked body repeatedly, feeling like it was a Greek sculpture.
Lu Zhou: "What are you watching?"
"Nothing much." Xiao Yi thought, ‘just your nude body.’
